Small Wonders -Pre School
About Small Wonders
Small Wonders provides an atmosphere with colourful surroundings under one roof, where preschool education is provided through play and fun. Children learn at their own pace in a relaxed atmosphere by observing nature, playing and chatting with each other and singing songs and reciting nursery rhymes. We believe in good teaching practices by promoting learning through play.
All play activities and resources are designed to meet the individual needs of your Child. We offer children the opportunity to investigate and explore the man-made and natural world around them, to extend their fine and gross motor skills and to express their own ideas and feelings. We encourage children to enjoy drawing, painting and books and appreciate the meaning they carry.
Through carefully planned activities we will encourage children to improve their vocabulary, to listen, talk and respond as well as to develop writing and literary skills. We also encourage children to work and play, and to cooperate independently in group situations. Children are taught to respect all living things to their full potential and all children are treated equally with love and respect, irrespective of their religion, caste or creed.

- Sensory integration sessions
- Preschool sessions
How are we different
- We do not make our sessions completely structured
- We follow multiple theoretical bases since a single theoretical base of learning may not be completely effective for the child.
- We ensure that we keep the parents in constant loop with child’s progress and plan, hence you are not left wondering what is happening behind closed doors
- We prioritize behavior management and language over others
- We believe in giving opportunity to each child, however difficult it may be, just so that no child is neglected
Our principles and methodology
Development occurs in a series of stages. Do not attempt to jump or skip any stage.
Teaching is no longer what a child requires. Child requires to be stimulated, not taught.
Teaching strategy is a blend of
- Montessori: child is natural learner
- Kindergarten: Transition from home to school using activities.
We will cover all topics that a public/private school expects child to be aware of. Our curriculum has been developed after consulting various schools in Bangalore.
Teaching Methodology
- Half of school timing will be for unstructured exploratory play based learning. (We don't want our children to be robots, do we?)
- Half of school timing will be for structured table top classroom based learning. (We also want our children to do well in a big public school, don't we?)
- Any topic discussed will be explained in a manner that involves all 5 areas of development.
- Learning does not end with Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Learning is more than academics, hence Holistic Learning.
- Any topic taken up will be taught in a minimum of 4 different and unique methods to help child to Generalize.
- Any topic you would want us to cover, will also be taken up; provided we think it is beneficial for child and his peers.(Hence, you are also a part of our curriculum development)
Our focus points for school
Books - The best after extensive research
- Lesson plans for a particular month are prepared well in advance such that the teacher knows what is going to be taught next month.
- Lesson plans are made for each single day, so your child will not come to school and waste time.
- Fridays are "Fab Fridays", where child is allowed to enjoy in their zone but yet, learning takes place in this non-academic atmosphere.
Teachers - undergo intensive pre-teaching sessions as well on on-hands training.
- Our teachers and support staff will be monitored by a team of academicians as well as head of curriculum development to aid in better teaching strategies.
- One on one sessions for child during school hours or after school hours to facilitate learning for children who require the specialized input. Sessions may range from academics to speech stimulation to attention building activities and similar..!
- Each child will be monitored by the Psychologist to find target problem areas/behaviors.
- Parental counselling will be provided if we feel it's necessary.
- Behavior management will be one of our top priorities.
- Weekly "STEP" meeting
- S for Student
- T for Teacher
- E for Educational
- P for Plan
STEP meetings are our very own strategy, unique to us.
STEP meetings help us develop an intuitive teaching strategy that is tailor made for each child.
- Monthly meeting with parents.
- Saturdays are Teacher Mentoring Programmes where teachers review and discuss about each child with management and curriculum staff.
- We have tie-up with academicians and clinicians who are on call any time to help us or the children, if need be.
- Parents can initiate a meeting any time (and any number of times), we will oblige willingly.
- All meetings will be documented and a copy of the minutes will be sent to the parent through the preferred mode.
